TSMC lifts July revenue 44.7 percent and is sold out on 2 nanometre for the year
TSMC lifts July revenue 44.7 percent and is sold out on 2 nanometre for the year. What a wafer costs and how Arizona is developing.

TSMC generated consolidated net revenue of 467.58 billion new Taiwan dollars in July 2026, equivalent to around 14.5 billion dollars. Against the year before that is a rise of 44.7 percent, and against June an increase of 5.6 percent.
Cumulatively the months from January to July reached 2,872 billion Taiwan dollars or about 89 billion dollars. That corresponds to a rise of 37.0 percent against the same period of the previous year.
The acceleration is considerable. In July 2025 growth had still been 25.8 percent.
The short version
- Consolidated net revenue in July 2026 was 467.58 billion Taiwan dollars, a rise of 44.7 percent against the year before.
- Capacity for the 2 nanometre process is fully sold out for the current year, and the price per wafer is above 30,000 dollars.
- Market share in contract manufacturing was around 72.3 percent in the first quarter of 2026.
Capacity for 2 nanometre is already allocated
The core of the development sits at the newest process step. Volume production in the 2 nanometre process began in the fourth quarter of 2025 at the plant in Kaohsiung, and the site in Hsinchu followed shortly after.
At the start of 2026 capacity stood at about 90,000 to 100,000 wafers a month across the Taiwanese plants. Both facilities are fully sold out for the current year.
The price per wafer is above 30,000 dollars and therefore almost double what a wafer costs in the 4 nanometre process.
Technically the process uses for the first time transistors in which the control element fully surrounds the channel. According to the company that gives either a speed gain of ten to 15 percent or a cut in power consumption of 25 to 30 percent against the 3 nanometre process.
In the second quarter the 2 nanometre process contributed only three percent of wafer revenue, and the 3 nanometre process 30 percent.
Two thirds of revenue from high performance computing
The structure of revenue shows where the growth comes from. In the second quarter 66 percent of revenue came from high performance computing, which includes accelerators for artificial intelligence. Mobile phones accounted for 22 percent and connected devices for five percent.
Market share in contract manufacturing stood at around 72.3 percent in the first quarter of 2026 according to TrendForce. Samsung reached 6.5 percent and SMIC 5.1 percent.
For the full year the group has raised its revenue guidance to growth of a little over 40 percent, after more than 30 percent previously. Investment is to run at 52 to 64 billion dollars.
Higher investment only leads to higher production with a delay of 18 to 24 months. The shortage of 2 and 3 nanometre capacity is therefore likely to persist through 2026.
Arizona grows faster than planned
The American plant has turned into a source of earnings earlier than expected. In the first half of 2026 it generated around 36.1 billion Taiwan dollars or about 1.13 billion dollars of cumulative profit according to a report from Taiwan. In the whole of 2025 it had been 16.1 billion Taiwan dollars.
In the first quarter alone around 18.8 billion Taiwan dollars accrued, of which about 16.9 billion came from investment income.
The build out is moving quickly. The first plant already makes advanced chips for Apple and Nvidia. The second is structurally complete and is to receive its equipment in the second half of 2026, with volume production planned for the second half of 2027. Construction of the third plant began in May, and volume production could start as early as around 2028.
The group has acquired more than 2,000 hectares of land near Phoenix. After chief executive C. C. Wei announced a further 100 billion dollars, the committed investment in Arizona comes to 265 billion dollars in total.
What the monthly figure on its own does not show are profitability, product mix, production costs and currency effects. Only the quarterly report gives information on those.
