Payment and invoices
Who takes the payment, what the price includes, and where your invoices are.
Who takes the payment
Checkout happens at Creem, our payment provider, which sells the subscription as a merchant in its own name. Creem takes the payment, issues the invoice and pays the VAT. Its terms are shown in the checkout and apply to the payment next to ours.
Opening a checkout is not a purchase. Your plan starts once the provider confirms the payment, and the provider sends the confirmation of the contract.
Take out a subscription
- Open Settings and then Plan & billing.
- Choose monthly or yearly, then the plan.
- Press Review purchase and read what the card says, which is the price, whether tax is included, and for a yearly plan the trial and the date of the first payment.
- Press Prepare secure checkout, then continue to the provider and pay there.
- Come back and press Refresh billing if the card has not caught up yet.
What the billing card tells you
| Line | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Subscription status | Active, trial, cancellation scheduled, canceled, expired, payment overdue, unpaid or paused. |
| Billing period | Monthly or yearly. |
| Recorded subscription price | The price on your subscription, labelled as including or excluding tax. |
| Renews at | The date of the next payment. |
| Cancellation ends at | The date your access ends, once a cancellation is recorded. |
| Scheduled change | A plan change waiting for the next invoice. |
Where the provider has not confirmed a date, no date is shown. An invented date would be worse than an empty field, because you would plan around it.
What each status means
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Active | Paid and running. |
| Trial | In the seven days of a yearly plan. See The 7 day trial. |
| Cancellation scheduled | You cancelled. Access continues to the date shown. |
| Canceled | The subscription has ended. |
| Expired | It ran out and was not renewed. |
| Payment overdue | A payment did not go through. The provider tries again, and the portal is where you fix the card. |
| Unpaid | The payment failed for good. Access ends. |
| Paused | The provider has the subscription on hold. |
| Unconfirmed | The terminal does not know yet. Refresh the card before trying the same thing again. |
Common mistake Pressing a button twice when a result is unconfirmed. The terminal asks you to check the same request rather than start a new one, and that is what keeps a second payment from happening by accident.
Find your invoices
- Open Settings and then Plan & billing.
- Press Prepare billing portal.
- Press Continue to billing provider.
The portal belongs to the payment provider. Your invoices are there, and so is the card the subscription is paid with. Invoices are kept for ten years, because a business has to keep them that long.
A subscription bought somewhere other than StockLife is managed where you bought it, and the card says so instead of offering a change it cannot make.
The launch discount
A launch discount is applied as a code in the checkout, and the terminal names it in full before you pay: what comes off, how long it lasts, and the regular price that follows. A yearly discount comes off the first payment. A monthly one runs for a number of months and then stops.
The pricing section shows the reduced price with the regular one struck through next to it. Without a discount nothing is struck through, because a struck price with no reduction behind it would be invented.
Credit packs
A credit pack for the assistant is bought the same way, at the same provider, under Settings. Recent orders are listed with their state, and the balance changes once delivery is recorded. See StockLife AI.
Status today
New subscriptions are paused. A checkout cannot be created, and the terminal says so instead of sending you to a page that cannot take the payment.
