What StockLife is, what the two products do, and what you need before you sign in for the first time.
What you need
- A browser on a computer, a tablet or a phone. There is nothing to install.
- A way to sign in. Google, Apple, or an email address with a password you set at the sign-in service.
- Nothing else. No card is needed to sign in, and none is needed for the calculators or any page of this website.
Note There is no app to install and no phone app. A program for the computer is planned and has no date you can rely on yet, so the browser is the terminal.
Sign in for the first time
To open the terminal:
- Press Login in the header of this website, or open stocklife.io/login.
- Choose Google, Apple or your email address. The page that asks belongs to our sign-in service, WorkOS. StockLife never receives your password.
- Wait for the terminal to load. The first time on a device, a short tour runs, and you can leave it at any point.
- Open Settings and set your language, your display currency and your theme. Every setting is listed under Settings reference.
If the terminal cannot be reached, this website shows a page that says so instead of leaving you in a browser error. See When something does not work.
Find your first company
To look up a company:
- Press Ctrl and K, or Command and K on a Mac.
- Type a name or a ticker, for example a company you already own.
- Press Enter on the result you want. The company page opens on Overview.
- Press V and then F for its financials, or use the row of tabs. The tabs are listed under A company page.
To keep the company, add it to a watchlist. See Watchlists.
Use StockLife without an account
- The eleven calculators. They run in your browser and send nothing anywhere.
- Every page of this website, in 32 languages.
- The status page, the changelog and the roadmap.
- This documentation.
Signing in without a subscription also works. The account then keeps fewer watchlists and saved searches, which Plans lists.
Two things to know before you read a price
Every quote is at least 15 minutes old. The gateway keeps a price for up to another 15 minutes, so what you read can be around half an hour old. Every view carries the time of the value it shows, so read that rather than the clock. See Where the numbers come from.
A dash is not a zero. Where nobody reported a figure, the terminal shows a dash. It is never filled in from another number, and a zero on screen means a reported zero.
